Queen Letizia of Spain opted for a festive shade of red for a formal engagement in Madrid on Thursday.
The 45-year-old was joined by her husband King Felipe VI at an engagement at Zarzuela Palace.
Letizia, famously a fan of red, wore a vibrant cardigan over a fitted houndstooth dress, sheer black tights and heels.

The King and Queen were attending an event linked to plans to mark the 5th centenary of the first circumnavigation of the globe by the Spanish explorer Juan Sebastian Encarlo, and the Portuguese Ferdinand Magellan, which began in 1519.
The Queen wore her hair loose and accessorised with diamond drop earrings.
A smokey brown eye shadow complimented her eyes and she added a layer of gloss over her lipstick to tie in the red cardigan.

However, it has been largely been business as usual for Letizia, who attended a journalism awards ceremony in Madrid last week.
